Frequently Asked Questions
What is psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is a type of treatment that involves talking with a trained therapist to address emotional, psychological, or behavioral issues. It can help you understand yourself better, develop coping skills, and work through difficulties such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship challenges.
What happens during a session?
During a session, you'll speak with your therapist about your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. The therapist will help you explore your concerns, identify patterns, and develop strategies to cope with or overcome challenges. Sessions typically last 50 minutes.
How does payment work?
Payment will be required upon completion of each session before leaving the office. It is accepted by credit, cash, or e-transfer. Receipts will be given to provide to your insurance company for reimbursement if applicable.
What types of psychotherapy are available?
There are two main approaches to psychotherapy in this practice, including:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – focuses on changing negative thought patterns and behaviors.
Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) – focuses on identifying solutions to current problems rather than delving into past issues. It is goal-oriented and helps individuals develop practical strategies for achieving their desired outcomes.
Do you provide online sessions?
I highly suggest in-person meetings, however online therapy can be a convenient option for those unable to attend in-person appointments. Online sessions are conducted securely via video or phone calls, and they provide the same level of confidentiality and care as in-person therapy if necessary.
